Getting on a Big Track on a Big Bike for the 1st time

The year was 2019 and it was March. One of the dads from SFLMINIGP was holding a private track day at Jennings and we had been invited to check it out. I didn't have a big bike at the time but I was just starting to ride my 150r on 17s. So we took that bike just to see how I would do at a larger venue.

I was super nervous, wasn't sure what to expect from being on a bigger track. I hadn't ridden the 150r much and I was already nervous on that machine cause it was so much taller than my other minis. But dad felt I was ready and its not like I was riding a 600 or 1000; however, it sure seemed that way to me.

Once the riders meeting was done, Rick Glover (the dad holding the event) grabbed me and said he would take me around for my first couple of laps; you know; get the butterflies out.

I was so exhilarating listening to that 150r scream down the track on those straights. I had never gone so fast before. No clue how fast I was going cause there is no speedometer on the bike, but I know I was going FAST.

On the second day, one of the other riders at the event had a cbr250 he was willing to lend me so I can try a bike big bike for the first time. Man this machine was much heavier than my 150r, but about the same height and it was a bit quicker. My body just melted into the seat and it felt like it was apart of me. No matter what I wanted to do the bike just did it. I fell in love with being on a big bike and couldn't wait to do it. Transitioning was not so hard after being on minis. Everything just transferred over.

Thank you Rick Glover for allowing me into your event. It's a memory I will never forget.

Your dad and SFLMiniGP have done so much for kids and motorcycle racing. I’m honored that I could give back a little and give you your first big track day. Looking forward to your full year in BTC.
