My First International Racing Experience

The year was 2017. SFLMINIGP was growing and we had caught the attention of an up and coming Youtube channel creater John Daniel Macdonald (FRJohnny777). Not sure how the connection happened but I believe John had posted about being invited to go to England and participate in the British Mini Bike series for a round from their promoter at the time Matt Pierce. My dad reached out to John and asked if we could come along so I could race in the event as well and that is where it all happened. I was accepted and next thing I knew we were flying out to England to races minis.

As we were in the airport waiting for our flights, a massive storm came through (weird for Florida, I know..lol) and it delayed our flight. So we ended up missing our connection in Atlanta and we got to England a few hours later than anticipated. But we made it, unlike my luggage which was lost somewhere. All my clothing and race gear was there...I only had my helmet cause I brought it as a carry on. 

Matt picked up us at the airport and took us for some food and traveling around. England is a magical place. So antique and rustic...just like the movies. We made it to our hotel and then had dinner at Matt's place. We got to hang out in his town for a day before heading to the track and still not race gear. 

Thankfully, just an hour or so before we had to leave the hotel called and said our luggage had arrived. I felt so much better being able to race in my own gear. We headed to Whilton Mill Kart track to begin my 3 day international racing adventure.

British Mini Bikes had set me up with a brand new 90cc race bike to race in my Bambino90 class. I was so excited to have a bike of my own to practice and ride one. We practiced all day on Friday, Same on Saturday and raced (2) races on Sunday. 

In England they combine your race scores for the weekend and I had achieved a 3rd place in the class by the end of Sunday's activities. 

During this trip I met so many awesome people and here started the awesome relationship with Jay and Riley Dexter!
